Enrico the Canary

Enrico the canary had a voice magnificent-e
Singing opera all day long despite an accident-e
In which he sadly lost a leg (the cat he met was quicker)
So now he has a wooden one made of a small matchstick-a

Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
Enrico the canary
Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho
Enrico the canary

The lady he belonged to
Grew very, very old-a
And then she die, so he got sent
To a pet shop to get sold-a

Chorus

One day a rich man passing by
Hears Enrico singing Verdi
And stopping, goes into the shop
And says "I buy the birdie"

Chorus

And then he looked, and looked again
And says "What's this I see?
This bird has got a wooden leg
So it's no good to me"

Said Enrico "Stop! Before you go
Though my leg's tied on with string-a
What are you looking for my friend
A dancer or a singer?"

Chorus to fade
