Wendel the Worm

Wendel the Worm used to wriggle and squirm
For sunburn had made his nose itch
So he got a small mirror to have a close look
But he couldn't tell which end was which

So he broke off a daisy and made a small hat
Sighing "Life as a worm's pretty rotten"
Then he looked in the mirror and said "Look at that
I'm wearing a hat on my bottom"

"I'll just see my doctor, he's down the next hole"
When he came out he looked rather pale
For he found he'd described all his symptoms at length
To the non-speaking end of his tail

So he made one more hat, and with one on each end
He went for a stroll in the heat
Then a sparrow flew by, saw Wendel and cried
"Meat and two veg, what a treat"
